Hits on Hold provides a continuous MP3 audio stream that your PBX connects to for music on hold. When you sign up, you receive a unique stream URL with your license key. Configure your phone system to use this URL as its music on hold source, and callers will hear professional music with your custom announcements.
Our streams are delivered as MP3 mono audio at either 64kbps (Starter plan) or 128kbps (Professional/Enterprise plans). This format is optimized for phone system compatibility while maintaining good audio quality.
You create announcements in your dashboard by writing text and selecting a voice. We use ElevenLabs AI to generate natural-sounding audio. Announcements automatically interrupt the music at your configured interval (default: 90 seconds), play your message, then seamlessly resume the music exactly where it left off.
Yes! You can change your genre anytime from your dashboard. The change takes effect immediately for new stream connections. Active streams will continue with the previous genre until they reconnect.
If you reach your plan's maximum concurrent streams, additional connection attempts will be rejected until an existing stream disconnects. We recommend upgrading to a higher plan if you regularly need more streams.
Yes. Every stream requires your unique license key for authentication. Professional and Enterprise plans also support IP allowlisting, which restricts stream access to specific IP addresses (typically your PBX's public IP).
TTS (text-to-speech) character budget refers to the total number of characters we can convert to speech each month. Each plan includes a monthly allocation. Characters are counted when you generate audio for announcements. The budget resets monthly.
